One of my favorite techniques is to use CTO filters (plastic gels that make neutral light look like old fashioned light bulbs) on my lights so that when I tell the camera to compensate for their warmth, the camera makes the rest of the world look blue.

Shooting this travel story for The New York Times Magazine was a great experience. As a Chicago transplant, I make my way around the city just about everyday, but this time I got to really appreciate Chicago through the eyes of a tourist.
