Lady Faints As Lord Sent Back To Prison

In 2005, I went to Chicago’s Federal Court House to shoot disgraced publishing baron Lord Conrad Black (photo below). At the time, I had never heard of the Canadian born Black, but today, not only have I heard of ‘The Lord,’ as I have come to call him, I have photographed the convicted felon over 20 times.

In 2007 he was sentenced to 78 months in prison. However in 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court sets aside Lord Black’s three convictions for wire fraud because of the misuse of the “honest services” law and ‘The Lord” was released pending re-sentencing. Today the English Lord who has practically aged before my eyes, was sent back to prison where he may serve up to 13 months more in prison. Upon hearing the verdict Lady Barbara Amiel Black collapsed, but later regained her composure.

Below are photos I shot today. While, I was really surprised to see ‘The Lord’ kick open the car door upon his arrival, I was even more astonished to see his wife embrace him once the two were in their car. It’s not often that we get to see true emotion during these courtroom perp-walks.
