The mood of the song ruled the day when it came to coming up with the art direction for this video. Long cuts, smooth movement and soft yet dramatic lighting was used to bring out the emotion’s of Marcus Matteo’s voice and the precision picking of guitarist Daniel Peters.
To create the overall mood of the shoot I back-lit the fog machine enhanced set with three HMI’s gelled blue and then lit the talent predominantly with a 300-watt Tungsten bulb in a Chinese lantern (not bad for $30) and a then I used a Kino Flo for Dan’s hair and another one to edge out Marcus’ left side.
To finish the look I used a 3×6′ Photoflex silver reflector for fill, a fan to keep the smoke off their faces and I kept the shots moving with a Kessler Pocket Jib.
