In this member exclusive video, join me as I walk you through the second look from our photoshoot with the stunning model Tania. This setup focuses on achieving striking complementary color harmony by contrasting Tania’s vibrant orange-red hair with a cool blue light.
Lighting Setup Overview:
- Background and Edge Lighting: I used Nanlite Pavo Tubes, both tuned to blue, to create soft yet defined edge lights that perfectly complement the blue backdrop.
- Key Light: Initially, I attempted to use a beauty dish with flash for the key light. However, the challenge of balancing its output with the dim continuous LEDs from the Nanlite Pavo Tubes led me to switch gears.
- Main Light: I opted for a Mola Rayo paired with a Nanlite FS-300, which allowed me to finely tune the balance between the bright blue edge lights and the softer fill on Tania’s face. The Forza 60C with a PJFM Snoot, also tuned to blue, added a subtle fill, enhancing the overall mood of the image.
Challenges and Adjustments:
During the shoot, I had to troubleshoot exposure issues and adjust the lighting setup multiple times to ensure that Tania’s vibrant hair color was accentuated against the cool blue tones without overpowering the scene. You’ll see how I worked through these challenges to get the lighting just right.
