One Light Portraits with Jason: Exploring Light Modifiers

In this second installment of our One Light Portrait series featuring Jason, we delve deeper into the world of lighting modifiers to enhance your portrait photography skills. This time, we’re starting with the Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octabox, with additional fill from the Elinchrom 190cm Indirect Octabox we used in the previous video.

However, as we progress, I realize that the look I want to achieve is better served with a different setup. I switch to using an Advantage Gripware 8×8′ Halo Artificial Silk, paired with the Elinchrom 190cm Indirect Octabox. The scrim provides a beautifully diffused light, adding a unique texture and softness to our portraits.

Jason is posed in front of a pair of stunning Gravity backdrops, adding depth and character to the shots. These backdrops not only enhance the visual appeal but also allow us to play with the interaction between light and background, creating compelling and dynamic portraits.
