]]> Chicago beauty videographer John Gress created a digital marketing campaign for Namaste Labs and their ORS Olive Oil line. The project consisted of step-by-step video tutorials with the models getting their hair colored with the ORS Olive Oil Hues line by the professional stylists after with their products.

Filming took place in Chicago’s Humbolt Park in a salon over the course of two days. Gress filmed the tutorials with a Canon C100 and a 1DX Mark II in 8-bit clog.The video was lit with natural light and augmented with Kinoflos.

the campaign consisted of 4 HD one minute videos for Instragram, twitter and YouTube plus the beauty headshots were used for social media as well.

]]> Yesterday was and an interesting new experience… you won’t hear me say that too often when shooting a news assignment since most of the things I shoot are similar to things I have seen before – But this was different – I saw my future.

Recently I have been shopping for a new car and buying American is something I feel it is my duty to do since almost all of the other tools I use to do my job are imported. After going to the Autoshow and making what feels like a tour of the internet, I have decided on either a Ford Edge or a Ford Explorer.

The Edge is assembled in Toronto and is made up of 70% parts from the US and Canada, while the Explore is assembled in Chicago and made up of 60% US and Canadian parts. Regardless of final assembly, thousands of Americans are employed mining ore, milling steel and stamping parts, some of which will one day become my ride, and maybe, just maybe, I saw part of my new car being made yesterday in Chicago Heights.
