Flash From The Past: April 27, 2003

Its been a long time since I did an assignment for Agence France Presse. This image was taken during the 2003 NBA playoffs with what I think was a Canon DCS-520, my second professional digital camera, The cameras sensor made three-and-half 1.7 megapixel images per second. In contrast the cameras I use today take eight images per second with 15 megapixels of information per picture.

Flash From The Past: April 26, 2007

In 1985 my father passed away due to exposure to a pesticide during his tours in Vietnam. One thing I never enjoy doing, but something I can certainly relate to, is photographing military funerals. It’s sad seeing my fathers generation laying to rest members of my generation in yet another war.

Today, Reuters released a set of photos that I shot and a story about researchers in Chicago working with electromyography — electrical signals produced by muscles — and pattern recognition computer software to control and develop a new generation of robotic limbs.

Blackhawks-Canucks Playoff

I have had a very busy stretch the last four days. I have photographed three professional games, made several website updates and hosted a small gathering of friends. Here are some images from last nights Blackhawks-Canucks game. Chicago vanquished Vancouver, winning the playoff game 7-2. Chicago now trails in the first round series the-games-to-one.

NBA Playoffs Game 1

I shot last night’s Bulls-Pacers game in Chicago. For this game I decided to mount a remote camera on the basket so I could add a unique angle and end-up with more usable photos from the game. All-in-all, I think I shot around 1000 photos to end up with 17 images worthy of sending in to my client, Reuters.
